Mike Thornton, Emergency Management Director
Mike Thornton serves as Warren County’s Emergency Management Director. He is an Oklahoma Certified Emergency Manager with an extensive background in Emergency Management and Atmospheric Sciences. Over the past five years, he has served as a Deputy Director for Latimer County Emergency Management and as the Director for Tillman County Emergency Management in Oklahoma. During his time in Emergency Management, he has led multi-agency disaster responses across local, state, and federal levels, secured high level grants, and declared and closed out both state and federal disasters. Additionally, he has developed Hazard Mitigation Plans, EOPs, and other various emergency plans. In 2024, he was awarded the Innovator Award for advancing Emergency Management and previously served as the Southwest VP Alternate for the Oklahoma Emergency Management Association.
