WCEMA Volunteer Program

WCEMA volunteers are a vital extension of Warren County Emergency Management operations and play an important role during both blue sky activities and grey sky emergency events. Volunteers support the county’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from incidents that impact the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors throughout Warren County.

As of December 2025, the WCEMA Volunteer Program consists of 15 dedicated volunteers who meet on a monthly basis for training, coordination, and professional development. These meetings focus on building practical emergency management skills, strengthening operational readiness, and fostering collaboration among volunteers and partner agencies.

Volunteer training covers a wide range of emergency management functions, including Emergency Operations Center activations, storm spotting, post incident damage assessments, emergency communications and radio operations such as amateur radio, and current emergency management protocols and procedures. This training ensures volunteers are prepared to operate effectively in support roles before, during, and after emergency events.

In addition to operational training, WCEMA volunteers regularly participate in public outreach and community engagement activities. This includes representing the agency at parades, festivals, and other community events across Warren County. Through these efforts, volunteers help share preparedness messaging, increase public awareness, and strengthen the connection between Emergency Management and the communities we serve.

Volunteers are typically activated when a known threat is anticipated or when an incident is actively occurring. Activations may include staffing the Emergency Operations Center during or after an incident, assisting with storm spotting operations, or conducting damage assessments at the request of WCEMA. Activation needs vary depending on the nature, scope, and duration of the event. The WCEMA Volunteer Program offers a meaningful opportunity to serve your jurisdiction and contribute directly to the safety and resilience of Warren County before, during, and after disasters.
